Fourth National Conference

If you are not already familiar with our group, PsychSIGN is a national student-run organization founded in October 2005 with the support of the American Psychiatric Association to foster the involvement, organization and implementation of psychiatry student interest groups at individual medical schools throughout North America. Each year PsychSIGN holds a national conference in May, in conjunction with the APA Annual Meeting, to allow students to come together to explore their interests in psychiatry, learn about the opportunities that are available within the field, and network with other student leaders across the US and Canada. Through these annual conferences, we hope to not only inspire students to pursue a career in psychiatry, but also to educate them about current mental health issues so that they will return to their respective schools and spread the knowledge to fellow medical students.

This year our conference theme is "The Future of Psychiatry: Innovation and Transformation." It is guaranteed to be exceptionally motivational, educational and stimulating! We will have a round of exciting talks and workshops on the various opportunities available in psychiatry, from exciting career options to scholarship opportunities through the APA. The conference will begin with an informal gathering Friday evening, May 15 and run through Sunday morning, May 17. (**If you are interested in running for a leadership position, please be prepared to stay through Sunday afternoon.)

The 4th Annual PsychSIGN National Conference will be held at the Cathedral Hill Hotel in downtown San Francisco, less than 2 miles from (and with free shuttle service to) the Moscone Convention Center where the 162nd APA Annual Meeting will be held. We are expecting about 100 medical students and psychiatry student interest groups leaders to attend. As spots will surely fill up, don't delay in completing your application! The deadline for submission of the attached application is ASAP

****The APA will fund hotel and meals for ALL medical students interested per medical school. You or your medical school will be responsible for the travel expenses.
