ADMSEP Announcement

on Tue, 08/06/2013 - 03:16

Dear PsychSIGN members,

We are pleased to announce that the 2014 Association of Directors of Medical Student Education in Psychiatry (ADMSEP) Annual Meeting will be June 12-14, 2014 at the Keystone Resort and Conference Center, Broomfield, Colorado.

You are invited to submit proposal abstracts on any topic relevant to medical student education in psychiatry.  Deadline for submission is SEPTEMBER 27thWe encourage these types of submissions:

-         Plenary:A 1-hour session consisting of a group of three to four individual presentations that are in some way related.  Each plenary presentation is a 12-15 minute formal talk by 1 or 2 individuals to the whole group of meeting attendees.  Several people can submit abstracts for a plenary session they believe would fit well together or the program committee will group individual submissions with similar topics. Many residents are trying novel approaches to engaging medical students in the field of psychiatry, and a plenary session would be a great way to spread the word on the different resident approaches across the country.

-         Workshops:These are 75-minute semi-structured learning sessions designed to facilitate interaction and use active learning with a limited didactic element. They are given to smaller audiences, usually 25-30 participants. Residents may choose to focus on workshops that highlight utilizing residents as an untapped resource in medical student education.

-         Discussion Groups: These are semi-formal presentations lasting 12-15 minutes where 3 to 4 similar topics will be combined for a more intimate discussion of the topics within a 75 minute session. They are also given to smaller groups of 25-30 participants.

-         Posters:Poster submissions can be on topics from educational research to descriptions of innovative approaches to medical student education.  This year, as in the past, poster awards will be given at the Annual Meeting banquet based on final poster presentations by a panel of judges. Resident posters are frequently a highlight of the poster sessions and would be a great way to disseminate research, while improving your resume.

The abstract submission application is available online http://www.admsep.org/upcoming_meeting.php.

Specific submission guidelines for plenary, workshop, discussion group and poster abstracts are also online. Please note that we must have all relevant application components, including disclosure statements from all persons in your presentation, by the deadline of Friday, September 27, 2013
