PsychSIGN 2013: San Francisco, CA
Psychiatry Student Interest Group Network National Conference
PsychSIGN proudly presents its 8th Annual National Conference in San Francisco. We hope you can join us!
WHEN IS IT?
May 17th-19th, 2013.
WHO IS IT FOR?
Are you an MS-1 who's just curious about psychiatry? Maybe you’re an MS-3 and are getting a little anxious about the whole residency application process. Then again, you might be the confident MS-4 who has been dead set on the field since before medical school and want state-of-the science sessions in academic psychiatry. No matter where you are in your medical training, the conference will have something for you!
You are the center of attention. Here, the attendings are excited to talk to you! Meet lots of other psychiatry-minded medical students from across the country, and rub elbows with some really amazing names in psychiatry. However, be on your best behavior; many past participants have been residency program directors! Last but not least, the conference is FREE!
WHAT'S GOING ON?
We are still in the process of confirming speakers, so we will send out a more specific schedule at a later date. However, the working schedule is as follows:
Friday, May 17: Happy Hour/Meet and Greet, TBA
Saturday, May 18: PsychSIGN National Conference, 8a-5p; Psychiatry Specialties Dinner, 6p-9p
Sunday, May 19: Resident Discussion Panel, 10a-11:30a; Leadership Meeting, 11:30a-3:00p
WHERE IS IT?
All events- except the happy hour- will be held at the Hilton Union Square, San Francisco, which is just under a half-mile from the APA Annual Meeting at the San Francisco Convention Center
HOW DO I GET IN?
You can register here or by clicking the icon above. PsychSIGN members have priority enrollment this year, and general enrollment to non-members will open in two weeks. Online registration will close on April 8th or when full. From that point on, we will maintain a waiting list.
The APA and PsychSIGN will pay for two nights at the Hilton Union Square for each attendee. Space is limited; all attendees will be assigned a roommate to share a hotel room. We will not be able to provide accommodations for any significant others. You may indicate a roommate preference on the registration form, or email us later on. If you are from the Bay area, or otherwise have lodging for the conference and do not need a PsychSIGN room, please let me know, Some meals will be provided by APA and PsychSIGN, including continental breakfast, lunch, and dinner on Saturday.
What APA and PsychSIGN cannot help with are your travel expenses to and from San Francisco. In past years, students have received funding from their medical schools, university student government organizations, APA regional offices, or have paid out of their own pockets. If you have any questions about funding, please contact me or your regional PsychSIGN chair and we'll try to help you think of ways to subsidize your travel.
Hope to have many of you join us in May! Let me know if you have any questions about registration or the conference itself. If you run into any problems, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
